Student & Family Engagement Coordinator for Flushing High School, New York City
Brenda Marzan is a Student & Family Engagement Coordinator working with Flushing High School in New York City. In this role, she is responsible for the day to day management of Flushing High School’s community school student and family engagement development strategy. Prior to joining CSS, Brenda was an AmeriCorps member at Flushing where she mentored a cohort of chronically absent students and provided homework assistance for the ENL (English as a New Language) students. She also served as a coordinator of Flushing High School’s pilot Adult Education program where she coordinated logistics, collaborated with Office of Adult Education and Continuing Education teachers and staff, and organized cultural immersion trips and activities for the adult learners. Brenda is currently working towards her master’s degree in youth studies from CUNY Schools of Professional Studies and holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Queens College.
