Student Engagement Coordinator for IS 349, the School for Math, Science, & Technology, New York City
Arlean Dawes is a Student Engagement Coordinator working with IS 349, the School for Math, Science, & Technology in New York City. As a Student Engagement Coordinator, Arlean is responsible for coordinating partnerships to develop student engagement within the community school strategy at IS 349, providing support to the school’s Peer Group Connection (PGC) program, and working with school leadership to improve the social and emotional well-being of each student through campus-wide initiatives. Prior to joining CSS, Arlean worked extensively with Fundación Bolivia Digna, a non-profit organization in Cochabamba, Bolivia with a focus on community development through educational programs. Previously, she worked with the Center for Arts Education in New York City and Artistic Dreams International of Harlem. Arlean holds a master’s degree in Latin American and Caribbean studies from New York University, and a bachelor’s degree in international studies and Spanish from Texas A&M University.
